December 11, 2008: We went to the hospital to start the induction process at 3pm. We registered, went up to the labor and delivery floor, got settled in our room, and the nurse administered the first dose of cervix softener. I had those every 3 hours from the time we got there and throughout the night.
December 12, 2008: Jason and I were awaken at 3am so we could take showers because they wanted to start the pitocin (the contraction medicine) at 3:30am. Quite honestly, I don't remember much about that entire morning. I just remember vague facts like Jason's mom arriving first, then my mom arriving. I believe my water was broken some time around 8:30am or so. The only other things I really remember are that I labored mostly on the toilet (LOL!), how BADLY the contractions hurt, and how FAST everything was happening. I remember the cart with the epidural meds on it being wheeled in, but they said the anestesiologist was going to be a little while because he was with another patient. Then I also remember him coming in and my OB saying that he was too late and that I was already ready to go. So yeah, I gave birth WITHOUT the epidural I so highly planned on getting and it hurt like HELL! Thankfully everything happened so fast that I didn't really have time to think about it. I went from 3cm to 10cm and ready to go in less than an hour!
At 11:28am a very healthy Skyla Elizabeth Poye was born!
Here is video of moments just after Skyla made her debut into our world! Don't you just love the first full sentence I say to my newborn daughter?! LOL!
Skyla had her 9 month appointment today (at 9.5 months) and she's perfectly on track! :) She weighs 18lbs, 1oz and is 28.5" long.
She started crawling about a month ago and is also cruising around furniture. And last night Skyla bit Jason's finger and he discovered her first tooth! :)
As usual, keep updated via Facebook - it truly is THE BEST way to stay up to date!

Skyla is about 8.5 months old and is doing fantastic! She is hitting every age-appropriate milestone still and is growing like a weed! I weighed her yesterday and she is 18 pounds now! I didn't measure her, but she is very tall as well - she's always been in the 90+ percentile for length.
She is very, very close to crawling - it honestly could happen any minute. And this morning (after a long night of her not sleeping very well) I noticed her first tooth bud! Finally! It's her upper left front tooth.
If you haven't checked out the videos I've posted on youtube in a while, be sure to do that! You can find the link above.
She has her 9 month check-up on October 2nd (she'll actually be 9.5 months, but whatever). I will update again then with her stats! Til then, if we're not friends on Facebook yet, be sure to add me! Then you can see ALL SORTS of Skyla-related stuff! :)
Til next time, XOXO, Lisa

Skyla is 4 months! Time sure does fly when you're having fun!
Let me think, what has happened over the past month...Well, we had our first professional family pictures taken and Skyla's first professional pictures taken and they turned out great! We went to the Picture People at the Fox River Mall here in Appleton. We will go back again when she turns 6 months, 9 months and 1 year and then go back yearly after that. You can see the pictures on the photobucket page.
On March 30th we started Skyla on rice cereal and she is such a good eater! I KNOW that, technically, you're supposed to wait til babies turn 4 months til you start feeding them solids, however Skyla was downing 8 ounce bottles so fast and frequently that I am 100% sure that she was ready. We started her on fruits and veggies after that and she does really good with those as well. Her favorites are sweet potatoes and pears. You can see both pics and video via the links above.
Every day I work with Skyla trying to convince her that she wants to roll over, but she doesn't believe me. She is a very strong minded little girl, and I'm sure she is waiting to do it in her own sweet time.
She is loving Spring and the walks we have been taking in her new stroller. The other stroller we have is a carrier stroller and she faces us. In this new one she faces out and gets to look around and she really seems to enjoy that. It's very rare that she falls asleep on our walks.
Soon we are planning on buying an infant-to-toddler swing to hang from our big ole maple tree in our backyard and I just know she is going to love that as well. Be on the lookout for video and pictures of that coming soon.
We had a wonderful first Easter with our little princess and I am very much looking forward to my first Mother's Day as well. And I know that my birthday will be the best yet, because Skyla will be a part of it.

Skyla had her 2 month check-up last Thursday, and she is doing really great! She weighed 11 pounds, 7 ounces which puts her in the 50th percentile. She measured 24" which puts her in the 90th percentile. And her head circumference was 40" which puts her in the 70th percentile.
Her pediatrician said we are doing a great job with her and to just keep doing what we're doing. :)

Skyla turned 2 months old last Thursday!
Well the past month has definitely been fun! Busy...but fun! Skyla's little personality is starting to come out more and more each day and I am absolutely loving it. She is such a doll! And man, is she cute! hehe! She is smiling and cooing all the time now and it is so adorable!
She weighs about 11 pounds now, and probably about 23" long.
I made a page on photobucket to upload her pictures to, so bookmark this if you'd like. I take tons of pictures and upload new pics every few days.
Here are a few videos I have made recently:

Skyla is one month old today!
It's hard to believe that our little girl has been out in the world with us for one whole month already! Time flies when you're having fun, I guess!
She is starting to get her days and nights straightened out, and is definitely awake a lot more - no longer sleeping 20 hours a day. I am also finding that she needs/wants to be entertained more these days, and we have introduced her bouncy seat, play mat and finger puppets to her (her favorite seems to be the penguin that I named Pete. LOL!).
We weighed her last night and she now weighs 9lbs 5oz. She was 8lbs 6oz at birth, 7lbs 15oz two days after birth, 7lbs 7oz five days after birth and 8lbs 2oz twelve days after birth. I read that babies are supposed to gain between 1-2 pounds each month, and she falls into that range so that makes me happy. When you think about how much she has gained in total, it's a lot! Almost 2 pounds from her lowest weight! She seems much longer too...at her 2 week appointment she had already grown an inch and I definitely think more has been added to that. It won't be much longer til she has outgrown her newborn sleepers (the 0-3 ones are too big on her yet).
Here is a picture that I took of her today...

December 30, 2008 I finally have some time to update this website! Little princess Skyla is sleeping away right next to me, being the absolute angel that she is. :) Skyla is an extremely good baby - Jason and I have nothing to complain about. There have been nights already that she has slept for 6+ hours and I wake up just shocked (and THANKFUL!). She's a very good sleeper once she's asleep, but sometimes it's very hard to GET her to go to sleep. She still has her days and nights mixed up, but even that is getting better as days go by. She's also a very good eater, often times eating between 3 and 4 ounces at a time (if I pump or supplement with formula I can see that).
As of this past Sunday, we entered into cloth diaper world. For the first two weeks she was home we used disposable diapers for those nasty, gross newborn diapers. LOL! But now we're in full-on cloth diaper mode and so far so good!
Here are a few pictures from the past 2 weeks:
